crip·ple adj. \ˈkri-pəl\
being flawed, imperfect or lame.
Old English: crēopan: to creep.
An accurate description of this pencil's creative journey : creeping along, flawed, imperfect and lame... yet gaining joy, insight and sanity from the mere act of creeping.
This is one of my favorite C.S. Lewis quotes. In fact, it's somewhere on the sidebar of my blog! (It keeps working it's way downward as I add more "stuff"!) The Trollope quote is great, too. I hadn't heard that one. And, of course, the drawing is fantastic!
HI Minn, (do people call you that?) I absolutely LOVE your piece, in fact, it would probably be my favorite if I picked favorites. (but I want everyone to feel included, lol) I admire artists with the guts to write on their art, I always think it looks so darn cool, I'm just hopelessly afraid I'll screw it up after drawing something I like then spelling a word wrong. Besides, I have sucky writing because I'm left handed, sigh. Thanks for your cool submission. See you next week, new theme will be "RAINBOW", come on over in an hour or so and read all about it. Best, Jenn of www.justaddwatersilly.com
Yes, coffee and a book! Which just reminds me I have not been reading at all lately, what with trying to post with new art twice a week. And *cough* computer games - but at least I have my coffee! The text over the cup and hand gives a really neat effect.
My comment must not have "taken" last time! This is one of my favorite C.S. Lewis quotes. It's on my blog sidebar if you scroll down far enough! I love the Trollope quote as well! I love your mixture of pen drawing and handwriting!
Oooh... this makes me want my coffee..haven't had it yet this morning. Love all the quotes on the page and the texture they create, I love adding quotes to my sketchbooks, too!
This is just wonderful... the perfect mix of line and texture... I am hopeless at the writing over the top thing because my writing is like chicken scrawl at the best of times... great entry into APR... love it...xx
Your hand drawing is fabulous. There is one thing more fabulous than a sofa, a book and a cup of coffee and that's a sofa, a book, a cup of coffee and a box of chocolates :) Von
I love the combination of line drawings with words. You've done a really good job at adding words to your drawing, especially writing over it while making it look so interesting too. Realy good job!
