I'll tell you the story of Cloony the Clown
Who worked in a circus that came through town.
His shoes were too big and his hat was too small,
But he just wasn't, just wasn't funny at all.
One day he said, "I'll tell this town
How it feels to be an unfunny clown.
And he told them all why he looked so sad,
And he told them all why he felt so bad.
He told of Pain and Rain and Cold,
He told of Darkness in his soul,
And after he finished his tale of woe,
Did everyone cry? Oh no, no, no,
They laughed until they shook the trees...
And while the world laughed outside.
They laughed until they shook the trees...
sat down
and
cried.

Well my goodness, what a fabulous pair of swirly overalls! Super fun, right? Hooray! Love the giant feet too! Sad clown tale though. I am going to go ahead and imagine his happy ending, perhaps in a little clown village with many clown friends in all their stylish swirly overalls.
ReplyDeleteExactly:-) He just needs a place where his swirly-ness and contemplativeness is not quite as misunderstood!
Deleteoh, such a sad clown story...:-(
ReplyDeleteI love the blues and browns you chose in your painting - very fitting indeed. Those textures in your background and the twirls in his overalls...fantastic! xoxo
I know, he makes me want to cry - as Shel Silverstein's poem makes me want to cry. Cloony is representative of so many walking around with a smile... yet with shattered insides!:-(
