“The beginning of love
is the will to let those we love be perfectly themselves,
the resolution not to twist them to fit our own image.
If in loving them
we do not love what they are,
but only their potential likeness to ourselves,
then we do not love them:
we only love the reflection of ourselves we find in them”
Amazing technique here! I love it.
ReplyDeleteAnd the quote is powerful too! HPPF!
so much energy in this ~ fantastic
ReplyDeleteOh I totally love this work ...batik style...and the colors are so gorgeous...the words are absolutely true and touching :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful piece of prose and so very true - something I think we are all guilty of a little! I love the composition and subject matter of your piece and the colours are wonderful. Gorgeous work as always.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful
ReplyDelete:-) I love your work, the colors you use and the depth and wisdom of words you choose to accompany it!

This is so beautiful, love the textured feel to it.
ReplyDeletewords for thought most definitely....love this abstract painting, so much to take in with all the brush work. Happy PPF, Annette x
ReplyDeleteThe quote is a gem
ReplyDeleteHow did you get the crackly appearance on the paper?
Beautiful. The eyes ARE Merton's words.
Nancy, the batik-like lines came from randomly blowing masking fluid and paint with a straw. The other textures came from my ever faithful friend, Salt:-)
DeleteBeautiful words and art.....SOOO true!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
this is stunning! Happy PPF

I just read how you achieved those awesome lines, WOW! Beautiful painting.
ReplyDeleteLovely work.
ReplyDeleteVery cool--I like the batik look of it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful birds! Really cool batik-like effect! Terrific!
ReplyDeleteYour art is stunning. You always amaze me. I'm so inspired. One day I hope to be as talented as you.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fabulous piece. I love your artwork - the quote is just wonderful. So often we just love someone to be like ourselves - that's why so many marriages fail. It's hard work to love people for their differences.
ReplyDeleteLovely, fantastic!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, love your colors and the original technique! <3
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely wonderful Minnemie,
ReplyDeleteThe painting is so beautiful. I think I could pick your work out from anywhere...it's so distinctive and the palette you've used is just beautiful.
I also think the quote is very poignant, especially for me right now. I'm having a battle with my hubby as we try to settle back into our old home and each of us is having such opinions about what should be done and where! Imagine he's trying to interfere with the nest and I don't like it! (lol)
Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for sharing your fabulous work. ;D
xoxo
I love your quote from No Man is An Island, our class moto--ironically at an all girls school. Fond memories. I love your painting as well. Broken lines, values, large shapes all coming together in a brilliant composition. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea how you accomplished this beautiful painting with water color. Wow, I love it, the ambiance of it, the perfectly shaped birds. . .it takes my breathe away. The Merton quote is perfect. Blessings, Janet PPF
