Rhinos are killed for a cure... that doesn’t work...

watercolor

“The tragedy is that rhino horn
 is made of keratin,
the same stuff that makes up
 human hair and nails.
It has no medicinal value,
you might as well eat
your fingernails.”

  5. What a wonderful drawing. It is different than anything I've ever seen--your use of color and line are just extraordinary. This fills my eyes, which is the greatest compliment I can give.

  6. Absolutely amazing painting Minnemie,
Strong and impressive with your usual talented brilliance.
(I get really upset when I hear about the rhino's plight...it just seems so stupid and senseless).
    Have a wonderful weekend xoxo

  7. Oh - we must be thinking the same thoughts - I just shared a rhino painting I did last week - and it has triggered a desire to do a series on endangered animals. I saw pictures of rhinos whose horns were taken and they were still alive - they might as well be dead since they have no way to defend themselves. It broke my heart. God created all these magnificent creatures and man kills them for no real reason at all - Your rhino is beautiful

  8. Such a tragedy that so many animals are killed for purported medicinal or other value that they don't even have. I can't dwell on it or I get so depressed! Your rhino is a stunner! Terrific face and wow, the color!

We humans, we still have so much capacity for cruelty, there is nothing we won't maim or kill.

  12. Wonderful technique with a beautiful result. He looks so sad. I can't understand people who kill animals for these reasons, and it's not only rhinos but so many other creatures as well. It makes me sick ...
