“At sunrise everything is luminous
but not clear.” ― Norman Maclean, A River Runs Through It and Other Stories
Such exciting colors you use to bring this beast to life! How I would love to see it in person; it's so splendid here on my screen! Bravo. A true winner!
this is beautiful and how very strange - my painting today is an elephant too!! I love the colours you've used to capture the sunrise on the skin of the elephant - gorgeous!
I tired to comment on this last night but my internet went out. Lovely powerful painting. You have such strong emotion in that body and face. Happy PPF.
He is so grand and majestic! Love the color and the way the trunk indicates movement. (Also, I signed up after you posted it but got an email for it anyway, woo!)
What I love about this (one of the things) is how this elephant was created using numerous colors and yet he still looks so true to form, and so... proud looking. Great job creating all that texture.
Your elephant reminds me of the local news this morning. Some environmentalists said that we had to return the only elephant in our Manila zoo to Sri Lanka because he was disturbed and his nails were unhealthy! Your elephant looks like he is sad, maybe his children are taken away? Patsy from HeARTworks
Yes, mine is a sad elephant... he was at the fair, oceans away from home, giving people rides on this back. There was nothing inhumane, but also nothing natural or even friendly about his environment. To me he was a picture of loneliness and sadness. The light the sun cast on and around him was the only redemptive factor to the picture I beheld...
Love your use of color for the highlights. Beautiful! :)
