“And I learned what is obvious to a child...
That each day should be spent finding beauty
in flowers
and poetry
and talking to animals.
That a day spent
with dreaming
and sunsets
and refreshing breezes
cannot be bettered. ”

Lovely words and lovelier painting!
ReplyDeletewhat abeautiful piece! I really like the contrasts and the sense of discovery
ReplyDeleteOh this has such a sweet feel to it...so beautifully done, colors muted, feel the beach...feel the softness of the children...like love.
ReplyDeleteWow. The mood and feeling of this is incredible. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely painting and quote. I just returned from a few days at the beach with my son, and have always marveled at how he can entertain himself there for hours without a single toy. Nature's playground is the best.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting and quote! Valerie
ReplyDeleteThe image has a lot of energy, but at the same time looks very peaceful, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLovely painting. Great pattern of lights and darks.
ReplyDeletewonderful painting so full of tender atmosphere. Happy PPF, Annette x
ReplyDeleteBeautiful - each week you inspire me with your amazing ability to create a stunning art work that perfectly capture the emotion of the quote or phrase you use. I love everything about this and the quote is so completely true - we need to remember to find wonder in the world the way a child does without thinking!
ReplyDeleteLove the way you have left areas of negative space, with light against dark this painting is so good.
ReplyDeleteThis is so emotionally appealing, and can be interpreted in so many ways. Wonderful my friend. Happy PPF to you and a wild and happy weekend with your 'men'. Liefs en soentjies.
ReplyDeleteLove the painting, and the quote! As a mother to a small boy, both the painting and the quote are close to my heart. :-) Did you use a reference photo?
ReplyDeleteYes Hwee, I did. It was an old black and white from several years ago when where we were at the beach with friends on a freezing cold day in April! The children were bundled up but enjoyed the adventure as much as always... it is an (almost) all-weather magical place!
DeleteBeautiful combination of painting and words!
ReplyDeleteA fabulous painting and quote Minnemie...yet again in awe of your work :D
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend ~ whatever you have planned...enjoy! xoxo
Amazing! Love it! :)
ReplyDeleteI love this whole post...so wonderful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting with the strong contrasts.
ReplyDeleteI love the words and I love the painting. Makes me want to be standing there with those two. Lovely work. Happy PPF

ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting!
ReplyDeleteSo sweet. Will reread the poetry again.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful painting!! and I love the poem that goes along with it!!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Those 2 kids in your painting evoke such a feeling of childhood!!
ReplyDeleteAmazing painting! It seems to me, dear minnemie, that the child inside you is still there and happy, painting pictures, finding light. That's a blessing!
ReplyDeleteWarm regards.
I love the "pieces of light" in your paintings. It just makes them come alive - beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAwesome, the way you handle light is amazing! Great beach feel and beautiful quote, too!
ReplyDeleteYes it is an amazing painting Minnemie.I like the black and white of it not really black and white. There looks to be some amazing passages of subtle color among the stark lights and darks.
ReplyDeletewonderful painting and an equally beautiful poem to live by!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is so cool! How you used so few colors to illustrate so much storytelling! The little figures are so cute, particularly the girl who seems anxious to get down to the water's edge. It could be a very magical place, with so many narrative possibilities.
ReplyDeleteWonderful painting and poem!
ReplyDeleteLove your painting's tints and composition!
♥♥♥
Happy PPF!!

ReplyDeleteAs always, beautiful and powerful!
ReplyDeletecheers, dana
I like the softness of this. It's a wonderful painting and the poem truly awesome. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWonderful..Just Wonderful. I see the beauty. HPPF.
ReplyDeleteSo very sweet. I love children.
ReplyDeleteLovely watercolor and nice choice in the quote. :)
ReplyDeleteThis piece is absolutely stunning. I love how so much of it is just shadows, and yet it is still a complete picture...
ReplyDeleteThe words are lovely, and so true, at least for me. We lose so much of what is really important about life when we stop being children. Art has brought some of that magic back into my life!
Beautiful art and words, such a powerful message!!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
This is a very clever painting ... it found beauty.
ReplyDeleteMmm, sounds like a perfect day to me. I love this beach scene with it's long evening shadows.
ReplyDeleteYou did an awesome work with this painting. You can see the wonderment in the children. Love the quote! It goes perfectly with your painting. Thank you for visiting me even though I didn't participate in PPF. :-) xo
